Wafer Chucks with the Broadest Temperature Range on the Market

The Micromanipulator Company has a reputation throughout the world for innovation and high-quality products.  Our customers feel confident purchasing from us as they know we stand behind our products and will still be around for many years in the future to help out with any problems.

Our team proudly provides the semiconductor industry with the state-of-the-art products it needs in order to develop the products of tomorrow.  By listening and learning from our customers, Micromanipulator’s probe stations as well as our accessories and consumables are the products system users trust to serve their needs.

One product that is a perfect example of our innovative thinking is Micromanipulator’s advanced thermal wafer chuck systems.  Regardless of which one of our probe stations you purchase, our wafer chucks are designed as part of the comprehensive system integration with features that include a rapid heating up and cooling down.  Our thermal chucks minimize expansion into the probes and heat radiation into the stage to help prolong the prober life.  Micromanipulator’s chucks also maintain incredible planarity over temperature changes with our Frictionless Kinematic Mount.

Designed to support wafer testing from -65 to 400 degrees, our wafer chuck systems have a choice of AC and DC heating power supply.  If you do not require chuck noise in the femtoamp level and need fast heating, our recommendation is to go with an AC heating supply.  The DC power supply is for applications that need to achieve the lowest level measurements.  Furthermor, Micromanipulator’s quality hot chucks are designed to support 150 to 300 mm wafers in either coaxial or triaxial configurations.

For the best planarity, lowest noise and lowest cost of ownership, we proudly offer our customers the exclusive H1000 series thermal chuck.  Along with having several configurations to meet your application and budget needs, all control options will work with our specialized thermal chuck.  From our most economical C1000 simple heat exchange (HE) option for above ambient testing to our high performance HC1000 system that can handle testing for temperatures as low as -65 degrees C., Micromanipulator has it.  Please see our website for more information.

The Perfect Tools for C-V Measurements

Micromanipulator provides a series of Application Notes to troubleshoot problems and discuss products as well as to go further in-depth on probing applications such as C-V, or Capacitance-Voltage measurement.  C-V is a probing technique that varies the voltage in order to measure the capacitance.  Historically C-V has been used to detect mobile ion contamination in oxide, which takes the form of sodium ions.  Since we know sodium is extremely mobile and can migrate within the device structure, often devices that had passed the final test in the factory, failed in the field.

As industry leaders, Micromanipulator has developed a solution that provides a highly accurate test environment for C-V measurements with our 8060 (150-200mm) High Performance Manual Probe Station.  Offering the highest performance available in a 6 – 8” (150 – 200mm) manual analytical probe station, the 8060 is designed for ease of use in demanding applications.  Some of these include very low current and voltage probing, high and low temperature probing, and sub-micron target probing to the limits of visible optics.

Furthermore, it can be configured with an integrated environment that supports dark – shielded – dry probing.  When you take into account the price-performance, high efficiency features and low cost of ownership, the 8060 probe station provides system users with a cost-effective solution for high performance analytical probing.

Micromanipulator also manufactures the H1000 Thermal System that offers a single chuck with a temperature range of -65° C to 400° C.    In addition we have a standard LTE (light tight enclosure) that rests on the anti-vibration isolation and completely encompasses the test station or an integrated shielded environment.  Please visit our website or contact our engineers to learn more about our products and which ones are best suited for C-V measurement testing.

Micromanipulator not only invented analytical probing in 1956 but we are leaders in the field and reliably deliver the tools and life cycle support the semi-conductor industry depends on. Our company’s philosophy and what drives our success is an unfaltering commitment to our customers’ satisfaction. Why Trust Micromanipulator for Your Testing Needs?

There are not many companies that have been in business for as long as Micromanipulator (over 60 years), and you may be wondering what our secret is and why we have enjoyed continued success unlike many of our competitors.  Once you know more about our company, you will recognize that three things have set us apart from the competition – our technology, products and focus on customer service and support.

In terms of our technology, Micromanipulator not only sets the bar high but has an exceptional, experienced team to deliver on it.  With the invention of analytical probing in 1956, we have since produced many industry’s firsts such as pioneering the integration of thermal chucks with probe stations.  Even today, we continued to lead the industry with the broadest available temperature range and the most advanced, non-operator dependent performance available on the market.  Our system approach removes the “burden of performance” on users and allows them to focus on the data, not the prober and includes vibration isolation, thermal management, materials selections and flexible, open architectures.

Furthermore, with our broad selection of manual, motorized, or semi-automatic probers, users can easily choose a probe station that best meets their needs.  We also have an extensive range of accessories including our exclusive H1000 series thermal wafer chuck that offer the best planarity, lowest noise and the lowest cost of ownership.   Micromanipulator’s other options include microscopes, vibration isolation, light and noise shields, manipulators, and DC and RF measurement hardware.

Although while we know that our exceptional products and advanced technology have been critical to our success, we think the most important step Micromanipulator has taken from the start is to listen and learn from our customers.  Our professional services include a worldwide network of service support engineers for full system level support on everything from optics to thermal chucks.  Also to protect your investment, we offer extended warranties, preventative maintenance programs and upgrade paths even for obsolete tools.

Micromanipulator not only invented analytical probing in 1956 but we remain the leading name in the field.  As such we reliably deliver the tools and life cycle support the semiconductor industry depends on.  As part of our company’s philosophy and what drives our success is an unfaltering commitment to customers’ satisfaction.  We invite you to contact us to find out more about our wide range of probe stations, accessories and consumables.

Answers to FAQs Regarding Probe Tips & Probe Holders

Micromanipulator’s philosophy and the driving force behind our success is our strong commitment to customer satisfaction.  We strive to provide customers with all the information they need to purchase the most appropriate tools for their needs.  To achieve this goal, our website is filled with detailed specifications regarding our probe stations, accessories, and consumables along with application notes and reference manuals.

In our Probe Tips and Probe Holders Reference Manual, we provide customers with information regarding the elements of a probe and how to clean both probe tips and holders along with a full description of these products and their recommended uses.  The manual also provides answers to a few frequently asked questions about our probe tips and holders.

In one example, we explain to a system user who requires a uniquely shaped probe holder in order to satisfy a complicated arrangement is to purchase one of our malleable (bendable) holders.  A great choice is our Model 72 that can be shaped and reshaped as desired.  If you need a more exact configuration, we also offer custom probe holders.

The manual addresses the issue of using a probe holder with a built-in tip as we understand that many system users who are doing high frequency, low level signal testing or cutting prefer this style.  If this is case, may we recommend our low cost Model 44 that has a frequency range from DC to 3 GHz and is ideally suited for the most common microwave tests.

Another commonly asked question we have had in the past is how to order one of our high-quality probe tips or probe holders?  We are pleased to report that we recently  launched an ecommerce store and now sell our probe holders, probe tips, probe positioners/manipulators and patch cords conveniently online.   Please visit our website to learn more.
