To clean your probe holder, we recommend applying a methanol solution to the tip of the holder with a swab or other suitable applicator, but do not soak the holder in the solution.  Once you have applied the methanol, you will need to bake the shank at 200o F-300o F for a minimum of 6 hours.

To remove deposits from Tungsten, Tungsten Carbide, and Nickel tips as well as HCT and Custom tips coated with platinum, we recommend rinsing them in deionized water and then using compressed air to dry the excess water.  If you want to remove oxide deposits, dip the probe tip into a 1.0 solution of normal sodium hydroxide (NaOH) for a few seconds. Again rinse the tip with deionized water and dry with compressed air.

Probe tips and probe holders should be kept sealed in the original shipping box and stored in a dry place until needed.  Once the box is opened, be sure to keep the small desiccator package found in the bottom of the box as it will help keep products dry.

Micromanipulator’s Probe Tips and Probe Holders Reference Manual has much more on keeping tips and probe holders in optimal condition as well as detailed information on the best uses for them.  Please see our website to browse through our wide assortment of quality probe holders and probe tips, of which many can now be ordered online.

This is why our entire team is available to answer any questions you may have encountered using our products as well as any questions or problems you may be experiencing with your application.  Furthermore our website is loaded with detailed information on each of our wafer probes, manipulators, probe holders and tip. In addition we provide helpful Application Notes and a Probe Tips and Probe Holder Reference Manual.

Within our Application Notes, you will find discussions offering solutions to common application problems, and techniques to help you be more successful using Micromanipulator’s products.  They include:

Micromanipulator Application Note – CV Probing

Micromanipulator Application Note – Identifying Low Current Probing Problems

Micromanipulator Application Note – LCR Measurements with 4284A

Micromanipulator Application Note – Low Current Probing Basics

Micromanipulator Application Note – LTE and Vibration Isolation Table Integration

Micromanipulator Application Note – Proven Techniques for Thermal Probing

If you have ran into problems with thermal probing, we recommend taking a look at the “Proven Techniques for Thermal Probing.”  We provide expert advice on how to successfully use a hot stage for elevated temperature probing or CV Measurement.  Micromanipulator’s engineers discuss frequent problems such as uncontrolled movement that can cause the probe to slide or jump off its contact.  This can impact your data as it may cause movement of up to one mil at any location on a six or eight-inch wafer. By analyzing the cause and effect of these problems, we provide smart equipment solutions.

One important take-away from the Application Note it that “a little technique can go a long way” when probing all forms of small geometries; and “a little experimenting” will help you discover the best probing angle and/ or technique.  Please visit our website to read more solutions to hot stage probing techniques. And remember, our engineers are happy to give you a hand with any problems.

Micromanipulator not only invented analytical probing in 1956 but we reliably deliver the tools and life cycle support the semiconductor industry depends on.  Part of our company’s philosophy and what drives our success is an unfaltering commitment to customer satisfaction. Along with offering one of the best selections of wafer probe stations on the market today, we also offer all of the consumables, accessories and on-site support you need.

Quality Products that Support C-V Measurements

9.22.15
At Micromanipulator we brings decades of experience to manufacturing reliable, high performing probe stations for a wide range of applications including supporting semi-conductor professionals who perform Capacitance-Voltage (C-V) measurement since 1970.  CV is a technique where the voltage is varied to measure the capacitance.

It is generally used to detect mobile ion contamination in oxide, and in particular very mobile sodium ion; and the technique requires varying the voltage in order to measure the capacitance.  A challenge of C-V measurement has been to design a device that not only passes manufacturers’ testing in a controlled environment but one that can also handle the migration of sodium ions within the device while in the field.  We know the failure to achieve this causes a multitude of problems including changing the parameters of the electrical performance, affecting the timing, and source and sink currents as well as the threshold voltages.

Thus the team at Micromanipulator has been addressing these problems for almost 50 years and offers our customers tools specifically designed to obtain quality test results.  Our turnkey solution starts with several probe stations that provide the foundation for a highly accurate test environment for C-V measurements. C-V operators will also be interested in our exclusive H1000 series thermal wafer chuck, which leads the industry for the best planarity, lowest noise, and lowest cost of ownership.  The H1000 has the ability to support wafer testing from temperature ranges of –65 degrees C to 400 degrees C, and protects the station from the heat that is radiated down the body.

If you perform C-V measurements, take a look at our LTE (light tight enclosure), which rests on the anti-vibration isolation table and completely encompasses the test station or the integrated shielded environment.  Please contact your local representative or the team at Micromanipulator directly for additional information on our quality C-V solutions.

At Micromanipulator, we not only invented analytical probing in 1956 but are still the top name in the field.  As such we reliably deliver the tools and life cycle support the semiconductor industry depends on.
