Hot Chuck Systems with Options

As an industry leader, Micromanipulator engineers and manufactures the best range of high-quality probe stations.  We also produce a wide variety of compatible accessories designed for our stations including hot chuck systems that offer the broadest available temperature range and the most advanced, non-operator dependent performance on the market.

Micromanipulator’s thermal chuck systems support wafer configurations to fit your application and budget and offer features such as rapidly heating up and cooling down.  They will also minimize expansion into the probes; maintain incredible planarity over temperature changes with our Frictionless Kinematic Mount; and minimize heat radiation into the stage that helps to prolong your prober’s life.

Our innovative hot chuck systems support wafer testing from -65 to 400 C degrees and come with a choice of a heating power supply.  If you need fast heating and do not require chuck noise in the femtoamp level, we suggest you chose an AC heating supply.  It is best to go with our DC power supply if you need to achieve the lowest level measurements.  Regardless of which one you choose, all of our hot chucks are capable of supporting 150 to 300mm wafers in coaxial or triaxial configurations.

We recommend the C1000 simple heat exchange (HE) option if you want the most economical cooling for above ambient testing as it offers the benefit of a rapid cooling of the chuck after the heat cycle is finished.  If you need to test to zero degrees, and require the best performance in holding temperatures at room ambient temperatures, your best choice is our C1000 zero degree cooling option.

For the highest performance, we recommend our exclusive HC1000, which is specifically designed to handle testing for temperatures as low as -65 degrees C.  It provides the best planarity, lowest noise, and lowest cost of ownership, and all control options work with our probing specialized thermal chuck.

Our wide range of products allows you to configure your probe station to meet performance, budget and probing application requirements.  Please visit our website to learn more.

The Most Versatile Probe Station on the Market Today

Micromanipulator offers the most comprehensive selection of analytical probing hardware on the market including the world’s most versatile probe station.  Our impressive, patented 2210-LS combines the traditional wafer probe to the device exercising capabilities of the application board.  By offering above and below ambient temperature stress, it is designed to address today’s advanced system level FA challenges.

Since application boards used as part of a post tape out test plan are not suitable for in-circuit probing with traditional techniques optimized for the wafer level, the versatile 2210 provides the optimal solution.  Micromanipulator’s application board/probe station is specifically designed to migrate the wafer level probe capability to the system level application board in order to assist with post tape-out product spins.

The 2210 also provides extensive application coverage such as basic DC, to E and K-Band analysis.  Also as a user, you will find it is loaded with standard features including an open and stable platform for high magnification sample viewing and probing.  It provides the option to probe either at the application board block or at system level while exercising the chip in mission mode.  Furthermore, the 2210-LS has the capability to allow you to easily trace and analyze issues that manifest only in the actual end application environment.  These include inter-block device interface and tolerance issues; power issues; and between-block issues such as mixed-signal interface.  You have the ability to analyze race conditions and clocking domain as well.

We think you will find the versatile 2210-LS is the ideal choice for a variety of applications.  Along with the comprehensive accessory support and flexible setups, we also offer temperature and ambient versions.  Micromanipulator also designs and manufactures high quality accessories such as our optical vibration isolation table, removable ambient and thermal chucks for wafer level probing, stereo zoom and compound microscopes, CCD and video monitor options, and shroud enclosure for light shielding.

Industry Leading Innovations

At Micromanipulator we are proud of our long history of designing, engineering and manufacturing innovative, industry-changing products.  Advancements include the progression of belt-driven stages into high resolution lead screw lead nut designs that now provide the industry with unsurpassed positioning resolution.  Also the evolution of tools that once supported microscope magnifications of a few hundred times to today’s high-tech tools that now support >2000X magnification levels.

Our company is also proud to have pioneered the integration of thermal chucks with probe stations and to continue to lead the industry with the broadest available temperature range and the most advanced, non-operator dependent performance.  Yet another exciting industry first from Micromanipulator is our newly patented 2210 application board probe station with above/below ambient temperature stress that addresses today’s advanced system level FA challenges.

The exclusive, state-of-the-art 2210LS combines traditional wafer probe to the device exercising capabilities of the application board.  One of the problems in the past has been that when application boards were used as part of a post tape out test plan, they were not suitable for in-circuit probing with traditional techniques optimized for the wafer level.

Micromanipulator’s innovative application board compatible probe station was specifically designed to migrate wafer level probe capability to the system level application board to assist with post tape-out product spins.  This also significantly helps to expedite the identification of root cause.  Designed for above and below ambient temperatures, extensive application coverage is offered including basic DC, to E and K-Band analysis.  Among other features, the probe station provides system operators flexible setups, a large area and vibration isolation as well as an open and stable platform for high magnification sample viewing and probing.  See our website for more information.

Micromanipulator not only invented analytical probing in 1956 but we are leaders in the field and reliably deliver the tools and life cycle support the semi-conductor industry depends on. Our company’s philosophy and what drives our success is an unfaltering commitment to our customers’ satisfaction. For one of the most comprehensive selections of probe stations, consumables and accessories on the market, please see our website.

Probe Holders Designed for a Variety of Applications

One of the reasons we design and manufacture so many different probe holders is our customers tell us what they need, and we produce the products to fulfill those needs.  You will find our lineup of probe holders is one of the most comprehensive on the market.  Our holders address a broad range of application requirements including: general purpose DC characterization, high speed, wide bandwidth, low current and high power.  Also by producing such a variety of products, our users have the opportunity to choose a holder based on their measurement equipment interface requirements or application demand as well as budget and personal preference.

The Model 44, one of our single unit holders, offers so many options and configurations it is virtually a custom probe.  Features include a frequency range from DC to 3 GHz; low level signal testing; 50-ohm circuit testing; CV testing; and Kelvin force, and sense and single wire configurations.  This economical probe is appropriate for the most common microwave test and has coaxial shielding that extends from the cable connection through the body of gold plated brass to the tungsten probe point.

Micromanipulator’s high attack angle probe holders, models 75-80, are designed for hot stage probing and are ideal for applications where probing is difficult due to thermal expansion or vibration. While the holders accept any Model 7 point, they are specifically designed to be used with high compliance points such as models 7F, 7F-10, 7F-C10, and 7S.  Please keep in mind that because these probe holders have a high angle of attack, the probe point must be approximately 3/8” below the holder in order to be visible.  This means any compound microscope objectives with a working distance of less than 1/2 inch (12.5 mm) may not be feasible.

Our probe holders are also available in a variety of versions including coaxial or triaxial, high frequency, active, high/low temperature, high power and low profile.  Please see our Probe Tip and Probe Holder Reference Manual to learn more details and specifications about our full line of exceptions probe tips and holders.

As early pioneers in the analytical probing field, we bring 60 years of experience to give customers state-of-the-art products that are expertly designed, engineered, manufactured and meticulously tested. In addition, our commitment to customers’ satisfaction includes “Full Life-Cycle Support” that starts from concept, to production, right through to maintenance.  Contact us to learn more about our exceptional line of probe stations and accessories.
