Capacitance-Voltage measurement or C-V is a probing technique which varies the voltage in order to measure the capacitance. Historically C-V has been used to detect mobile ion contamination in oxide, which takes the form of sodium ions. The problem in the past has been dealing with extremely mobile sodium that was known to migrate within the device structure. This resulted in many devices passing the final test in the factory to fail in the field.
